June 25, 2024

After María Corina Machado was barred from holding public office by Nicolás Maduro's government, the opposition united behind Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia as their presidential candidate. Machado, a symbol of resilience for many Venezuelans, toured the country to rally support and inspire unity, urging citizens to vote for Gonzalez Urrutia. Through her efforts, she rekindled hope for democratic restoration, mobilizing a disillusioned population and solidifying Gonzalez Urrutia's position as a unitying figure for the opposition. In the subsequent election, Gonzalez Urrutia was declared the winner by the opposition, supported by vote tallies presented as evidence. His victory has received recognition from over 20 countries, marking a pivotal moment in Venezuela's political landscape and renewing aspirations for democracy.
